Finding courage and hope to mend half a heart

Zoe was born on July 4, 2011 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. This is our journey to find courage and hope to mend our daughter's half of a heart.

Zoe's Blood and Platelet Drive

Zoe's Blood and Platelet Drive

Zoe will be undergoing open heart surgery shortly after her birth.  We would love for little Zoe to receive the blood and platelets as much as possible from friends and family.

Program Information
  • Platelets have a 5 day life span and blood lasts 35 days.
  • Platelet donors do not need to match specific blood type.
  • Some blood types can be accepted more then another (example an A+ patient can accept O+, O-, A+, and A-).
  • All donors must be CMV (cytomegalovirus negative).
  • Donations must begin at least 3 to 5 days before surgery.
  • Platelet donation is about a 1.5 to 2 hour process.
  • There is no transporting services and blood is not frozen.  Platelets and blood would have be donated at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles where the surgery will be performed.
  • A carpool will be coordinated to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.
  • There is no fee charged to the donor or family for the direct donor service.
For more information on the donation plans and process, please visit Children's Hospital of Los Angeles Directed Donor Program.

If you are interested in being a blood and/or platelet donor, please respond by HERE as soon as possible.  A notification will be sent out regarding the next steps in the near future.

Thank you for your continued support of Zoe, our little heart warrior!
